Fashion Tip: Oscar Influence, Jewelry and Color by Joyce M. Schweers

Hollywood award shows and events, especially the Oscars, can set a tone for fashion and influence the colors and accessories that we see going forward.

Pale nudes and beige were dominant again this year, which was not your “blah beige” but, rather, an exquisitely embellished and sparkling tone on tones as we saw with Cate Blanchett in her Armani nude gown and Angelina Jolie in a beaded beauty in a light, putty color.

I loved the classic rose pink color of Mathew Mcconaughey's wife, Camilla Alves’, satin finish gown. It was simply beautiful. My customer will definitely see more of this color showing up in the Mustard Seed Treasures designs for spring and summer.

However, I believe that color will be the biggest buzz will be Lupita Nyong's simple, easy to wear gown which was in stunning light blue. When interviewed, she said it reminded her of the blue she would often see in her country of Nairobi. As you can surmise, I anticipate that Nairobi Blue is going to be appearing all over the fashion world in dresses, shoes, handbags, nail polishes and yes, my favorite jewelry!

Again, we would like to thank our hometown patrons/friends for their support as Mustard Seed Treasures continues to grow internationally.

We couldn’t have done this without the love from our Two River family!

Thank you!
