What a Way to Start a Sunday in Dialog

Every Sunday, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, the Sunday Morning Dialog (SMD) series is held. This is just one of the several programs our congregation offers as an opportunity to cover a broad range of topics that as a whole, honors many paths, and encourages deep exploration of new and timely topics.

Who is able to attend Sunday Morning Dialog(SMD)? Anyone is our community who is interested in the topic being discussed.

What is the cost? It is FREE.

What can I expect at SMD? Typically, presenters speak for 20-25 minutes, then we open the floor to discussion for the remainder of the hour. UUCMC services begin at 10:30am and are open to Dialog attendees as well.

What are some examples of topics that will discussed this month?

Oct. 16, 2016 – “Dance as a Religious Expression through History” – Susan Gaddy Pope

She holds a BA in dance from the University of Maryland and a MA in dance education from Columbia University.

Dance as a religious expression has existed since the beginning of time in all cultures. We will explore scriptural references of dance in the bible.

Oct. 23, 2016 – “Foraging for Food in Our Local Area” – Molly Walker

Molly a UUCMC congregant and midwife who grew up with parents who loved nature. She has been identifying wild plants as long as she can remember.

Molly will share some of the common things you will find in the area, provide resources for identification, how to cook them, and their nutritional benefits.

How can I get involved as a speaker? We are always looking for speakers from outside the congregation to enrich our discussions. If interested in sharing your topic with us, please send an email to uucmc@uucmc.org with your contact information as well as topic suggestion. You can also visit our website for more Dialog information. www.uucmc.org

Each month at UUCMC new topics are added, new friendships are formed, and fresh coffee is brewed. Let’s start the day together in “Dialog.”
