Iconic Jersey Shore Restaurant Reopens: See Details

HIGHLANDS, NJ — A beloved Jersey Shore restaurant has reopened following a multi-year closure, the popular dining spot recently announced.

Inlet Cafe, located on Cornwall Street in the Highlands, is a family-owned, bayfront restaurant that was first established in 1966.

Owned by the Lentz Family, the restaurant has grown from a four-table clam bar called "The Lobster Pot" to the cafe known and loved by residents today.

According to a report from NJ.com, Inlet Cafe closed for about three years, but recently resumed operations this spring with its original ownership group.

In an online post, the cafe said it will be continuing its original legacy this summer.

"We know it’s been quiet the past few years… but we never left, and we’re back to continue the original legacy this summer!" restaurant officials said.

Now owned by siblings Douglas Lentz and Robin Lentz-Sundstrom, the cafe is a second-generation family owned and operated restaurant, according to their website.

After Hurricane Sandy struck the shore in 2012, the family had to rebuild as five feet of water flooded the restaurant. Renovations took until the spring to complete.

"We are now back up and running better then ever," owners said. "Our commitment is clear, we make every effort to provide the finest quality food and absolute guest satisfaction."

According to the Inlet Cafe website, the restaurant offers waterfront dining and drinks alongside fresh seafood such as oysters, lobster, shrimp and more.

While the cafe is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, it's open from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
