Medical Facility Waste Found Scattered Along Shrewsbury Road

Latex gloves and masks and dental impressions, oh my. Here's what was found on Shrewsbury Avenue Tuesday night:

SHREWSBURY, NJ - Debris littering Shrewsbury Avenue on Tuesday night was confirmed to be waste from a medical facility consisting of gowns, masks and latex gloves, according to authorities.

The incident was first captured on video by News 12’s Brian Donohue via Twitter, who detailed that he was on his way to a Quik Check when he was met with a slew of medical waste dispersed acoss the road.

“Short run to Quik Check and came upon this trail of medical waste strewn along Shrewsbury Ave, Shrewsbury,” Donohue wrote. “Cops debating whether one item is a sliced strawberry or a tongue.”

Lt. Adam Cerminaro of the Shrewsbury Police Department previously told Red Bank Green that the materials found between Apple Street and Patterson Avenue at around 9 p.m. also included dental impressions, but no actual teeth.

Authorities who responded to the Tuesday night scene called in the Monmouth County Hazmat team, News 12 initially reported. It still remains unclear where the debris came from or how it ended up on the road.

Cerminaro clarified to Patch in an email that the debris "was not medical waste, but it was solid waste from a medical facility ... where it came from is still under investigation and at this time we do not have any reason to believe it was done on purpose."
