Monmouth County DWI Checkpoint Announced
The checkpoint will be held Saturday night; it is in addition to stepped-up enforcement during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

ALLENHURST, NJ — The Monmouth County DWI Task Force has announced it will conduct a DWI checkpoint Saturday night in Allenhurst.
The checkpoint, from 9 p.m. Saturday through 1 a.m. Sunday, will be in place at Main Street and Elberon Avenue, according to Brielle Police Chief Michael W. Palmer, task force coordinator.
Task force members and officers from the Allenhurst Police Department will pull vehicles from the northbound lanes of Main Street onto Elberon Avenue, looking for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Palmer said.

The checkpoint is in addition to stepped-up enforcement throughout the area and the state as part of the annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, which is aiming to discourage impaired driving and encourage people to use designated drivers or other means of transportation when they have been drinking.
That campaign runs through Labor Day.
