New COVID Boosters Available At Hospitals In Holmdel, Red Bank
Hackensack Meridian's Bayshore and Riverview medical centers are offering the bivalent boosters, either by appointment or as a walk-in.
HOLMDEL-RED BANK, NJ —Hackensack Meridian's Bayshore Medical Center and Riverview Medical Center are now offering both the Pfizer and Moderna bivalent booster.
Both hospitals are accepting walk-ins or you may schedule an appointment today by visiting HackensackMeridianHealth.org/covid19.
To receive the booster, you must have already received the primary series (the first and second shots).

According to an Aug. 31 post on the the FDA website, the bivalent COVID-19 vaccines are expected to provide increased protection against the currently circulating omicron variant. Individuals who receive a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine may experience side effects commonly reported by individuals who receive authorized or approved monovalent mRNA COVID-19 vaccines.
According to the FDA website:
- Individuals 18 years of age and older are eligible for a single booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
- Individuals 12 years of age and older are eligible for a single booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
