The Professional Women in Building Make Christmas Bright

Collier Youth Services, a non-profit organization that empowers at-risk youth to grow toward their potential in an environment of belonging, dignity, and hope, is incredibly grateful for the generosity of the Professional Women in Building of the Garden State, a council of the Shore Builders Association, to the young women in the Collier Residential Program.

Collier Youth Services operates two residential programs: Collier Group Home in Red Bank and Collier House in Keyport. Collier Group Home prepares teenage girls to successfully return to their families. Collier House transitions young women from dependent living or homelessness to healthy, self-sufficient lives. Collier House and Collier Group Home both address the immediate needs for safe housing and food security while providing in-depth counseling and life skills training with the ultimate goal of reunification or independent living.

For many of us, this time of year brings back fond memories as we take part in traditions such as exchanging gifts and gathering together for family dinners. Unfortunately, the holiday season can be a disheartening time for the young women in the Collier Residential Program but thanks to the Professional Women in Building (PWB), the holidays just got sweeter. The members of the PWB generously donated a variety of gifts for each resident including a travel bag, make-up, nail polish, gloves, slippers, art supplies, journals, and so much more! “This is absolutely amazing!” exclaimed Maureen Kale, Director of Collier Residential Program. “I am blown away by the generosity of the members of Professional Women in Building. On top of their monthly mentorship program with the residents, their thoughtfulness during this holiday season reinforces what we try to instill in these young women: that they are worthy of love and deserve happiness,” Ms. Kale continued.

Gina McNamara, Executive Officer of the Shore Builders Association stated “As part of my work with the Association I am involved with many organizations, but Collier holds a special place in my heart. Partnering with Collier Youth Services has been such a joy for our members especially during the Holiday Season”.

For over 90 years, Collier Youth Services has focused on improving the lives of underserved youth with academic, developmental, and emotional challenges.
