Rail Crossing Work In Little Silver May Detour Some Shrewsbury Traffic
The state Department of Transportation says work on White Road in Little Silver will impact some east-west traffic in the greater area.
LITTLE SILVER, NJ — A railroad crossing rehabilitation project, requiring the closure and detour of White Road in Little Silver, will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday and continue to 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said.
White Road will be closed and detoured in both directions between Heritage Drive and Megan Drive to remove the existing railroad crossing, and reconstruct the crossing and approaches. Access will be maintained for local traffic.
The following detours will be in place:

- Motorists on Route 35/Broad Street in Shrewsbury wishing to take White Road eastbound will be directed to Route 35/Broad Street southbound
- Turn left onto Sycamore Avenue
- After railroad crossing, turn left onto Branch Avenue northbound
- Turn left onto White Road
- Motorists on Branch Avenue in Little Silver wishing to take White Road westbound will be directed to Branch Avenue southbound
- Turn right onto Sycamore Avenue
- Turn right onto Route 35/Broad Street in Shrewsbury
- Turn right onto White Road
replaced with new concrete crossings and asphalt approaches
This federally-funded project is included within the state's railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 50 crossings each year, statewide.
