RBC Graduates Awarded Military Scholarships

Four RBC graduates have been offered ROTC scholarships and one of them an appointment to the US Military Academy at West Point.

Four members of the Red Bank Catholic class of 2015 have been offered ROTC scholarships. According to US Army Major Ryan Howell, “it is very rare in New Jersey’s history for one high school class to have more than two scholarships”, and more than three is almost “unheard of.” Major Howell, who is assistant professor of Military Science at Rutgers University, came to RBC on Monday, May 18th to present the scholarships to Michael Pace and Mathew Lamb, who will both be attending Penn State University, and to Tom Montano who plans on attending George Washington University.

Matthew Pieringer received the ROTC scholarship and also was awarded an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point which he has accepted. On May 18th, Captain Michael Rodgers, a West Point graduate and currently a Company Commander in the New Jersey National Guard, came to RBC to present the appointment.

“This is quite an honor for RBC,” noted Principal Mr. Robert Abatemarco, “we are now recognized as a preferred ROTC high school in the state of New Jersey. We are very proud of these students and are excited for their future.”
