RBC Students Attend "Introduction to Wall Street" Seminar

Mr. Tom Walsh, Managing Director of Fundamental Credit Research at Barclays NYC, presents the "Intro to Wall St." seminar to RBC students.

On Friday January 16th, RBC juniors and seniors with an interest in finance attended the first meeting of the “Introduction to Wall Street” seminar. It was the first of a series of monthly meetings where Mr. Tom Walsh, Managing Director of Fundamental Credit Research at Barclays NYC, will be presenting a wide range of topics and sharing his insights about investment banking, stocks and bonds, individual case studies and career opportunities.

Senior Griffin Keller looks forward to continuing the seminar and says he “found the presentation to be extremely informative and very easy to understand. Mr. Walsh gave us all a grasp of the fundamentals of investments,” and that he has reasserted his “interest in pursuing a career in the financial world.” Brianne Leys, also a senior agrees, “Mr. Walsh showed us practical ways of how we would apply what we are learning in our Business classes.” Classmate Kelly Lehotay, who plans a career in the fashion industry, said “Mr. Gallagher, my Business teacher, suggested I go to the seminar to learn more about what would be involved if I started my own company someday.”

When the series concludes in the spring, the group will take a field trip to Barclays in New York City. Mrs. Kathleen Booth, moderator of the Red Bank Catholic senior internship program notes, “This seminar is a tremendous opportunity for our students who have any interest in finance or business. “
