RBR Hosts Inter-string Concert featuring Five Schools and Community Guest Musicians

Guest artists from the community visited classrooms conducting special workshops with student musicians who performed together in a concert.

On October 22, the day was devoted to string music at Red Bank Regional High School (RBR) hosting an inter-school event featuring RBR, its sending schools of Red Bank Middle School and Markham Place in Little Silver as well as the Middletown Bayshore Middle School and High School North. The event was organized by RBR strings teacher Jeffrey Boga.

Guest artists from the community visited classrooms conducting special workshops with student musicians during the day and joined them for the final concert. They included Freelance Baroque Musician Laura Apello, Freelance Guitarist Kevin Kelly, Monmouth Symphony Orchestra members Kathryn Morrison and Monmouth Conservatory members Irna Kavolsky and Christina Villiagomez. Jennifer Brush of Markham Place Middle School shared the conducting honors with Jeffrey Boga in leading the students’ culminating performance event.

“RBR has been conducting this community-wide event since 2007,” states Jeffrey Boga. “It is always so amazing to me, and gratifying to watch a large group of students who have never met before come together, and after only one day of practice, perform music so beautifully together.”
