Red Bank ‘Broadwalk’ Gets May Reopening Date: Council
The popular outdoor shopping and dining destination will return May 1, according to the Red Bank Council.

RED BANK, NJ - Red Bank’s popular pedestrian and dining plaza is slated to return in 2021, according to the borough council.
In June 2020, the borough established a pedestrian mall by closing sections of Broad Street from Front Street to White Street.
Through a unanimous decision, the committee voted to close Broad Street from Front Street to White Street to vehicular traffic from May 1 to September 1 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday. The roads will also be closed off to traffic on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The resolution passed Wednesday notes that businesses may temporarily expand existing storefronts through the use of outdoor space such as backyards, side yards, parking lots, patios and “existing or adjacent indoor space(s) that may be vacant or otherwise prohibited from such use(s) for non-life hazard and non-safety reasons” to provide additional space for proper social distancing.

Red Bank businesses may seek approval for the expansion by submitting a Temporary Outdoor Business Extension Permit application to the Borough Clerk.
The borough will also be able to make certain municipal outdoor spaces available for businesses to utilize for activities such as educational or enrichment programs, recreational groups, health and wellness classes, and children’s camps for the purpose of social distancing.

CORRECTION: A typographical error in an earlier version of the council resolution listed the Broadwalk hours as Friday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The error has since been corrected in the final resolution to read 11 p.m. as the correct closing time.
