Red Bank Council Appropriates $3.3M For Community Improvements

Red Bank roads, parks and municipal buildings are up for a variety of improvements totaling over $3 million.

RED BANK, NJ - The Red Bank Borough Council has adopted a bond ordinance that will appropriate $3.3 million towards community improvements, according to January meeting documents. The funding will seek to improve community infrastructure such as roads, parks and area buildings, the bond ordinance reads.

The bond ordinance also authorizes bonds included in the amount to fund the improvements.

Of the $3.3 million total, $2.57 million will be allocated towards road improvements. The $220,000 DOT grant and the $30,000 DEP grant will be used to help finance the road improvements, according to the bond ordinance. Borough officials are also expecting state financing for the improvements via a $220,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation and a $30,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Urban and Community Forestry Program.

According to council documents, a portion of funding will also be allocated toward road paving, milling, striping, surfacing, curbs, sidewalks, ramps and driveways as well as all work, materials, equipment, engineering, design, consulting work, preparation of plans and specifications, permits, bid documents, conducting and preparation of reports and studies, equipment rental and labor.

$275,000 is set to be used for buildings and grounds improvements, such as improvements to the Red Bank Public Library. The funds will be made available in part by a $150,000 grant from the New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act.

$472,000 is also slated to be used towards park improvements, including the Count Basie turf field.
