Red Bank Juneteenth Celebration: March, Music And More
The Red Bank community will be commemorating the June 19 date with a string of cultural awareness and celebratory events.
RED BANK, NJ - The borough of Red Bank is slated to host several Juneteenth events later this month, including a solidarity march, vaccination event, musical performances and more.
Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19, commemorating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in America.
In Red Bank, the Juneteenth festivities will begin at the Parker Family Health Center at Pilgrim Baptist Church at 10 a.m. with a vaccination event for those ages 12 and older. Pre-registration is required. Individuals can text a full name, date of birth and phone number to (848-260-9076) or by calling the Parker Family Health Center at (732) 212-0777.

A Solidarity March will follow at noon, beginning at the Pilgrim Baptist Church and ending at the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center where a cultural awareness presentation will take place at 1:30 p.m. featuring the center's newest exhibit, “The Fabric of Our Lives: A Textile Cultural Experience.”
The festivities will conclude with a community celebration at Johnny Jazz Park (Pocket Park) with presentations, musical performances, vendors and more starting at 3:30 p.m. hosted by the Red Bank Recreation Department. Related: 'Pride In The Park' Returns To Red Bank In 2021

"This Juneteenth celebration will educate attendees on important historical facts and events. It will also be a celebration of how far we have come, while acknowledging the ways we must still move forward," the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center wrote in a press release.
