Red Bank Senior Center Rebuild Gets Green Light

The Red Bank Borough Council voted unanimously to finally restore and re-open the Red Bank Senior Center.

RED BANK, NJ — After three years of council protests, the Red Bank Senior Center is set to finally undergo renovations and reopen to the community, according to local officials.

The Red Bank Borough Council voted unanimously on Wednesday, Feb. 9, to begin the restoration process for the facility. According to Councilman Michael Ballard, the project will be funded using the allocation of previous grants and borough-held, unused funds.

"It’s a great day for our seniors and our citizens," said Ballard. "After more than three years of neglect and misinformation about the fate of this beloved town asset, and the funds required to fix it, we’re finally moving past the fighting to get the work of the people done."

Councilman and Senior Center liaison Ed Zipprich stated that while the vote was worthy of celebration, it was long overdue. "I’m delighted that we are finally correcting this wrong, and regret that our community was forced to endure a long wait for what should have been an immediate emergency repair."

The architectural plans and designs were created by DMR Architects of Hasbrouck Heights. The project will be put out to bid in the coming weeks.
