Red Bank Teen Beaten In Oceanport
The 16-year-old alleges the incident was racially motivated; police are investigating.
RED BANK, N.J.— Police in Oceanport have confirmed they are investigating an assault Saturday night of a Red Bank teen who says the attack was racially motivated.
Raymond Jackson, 16, a football player, told the local website Red Bank Green that he was badly beaten after he left a house party in Oceanport with his girlfriend, and that racial slurs were directed at him, including the n-word, while they were waiting for an Uber. Jackson is biracial.
“I was terrified,” he told Red Bank Green. “My eye hurt, my legs hurt, my body hurt.”

Oceanport police would not comment on any details because the incident involves juveniles.
Det. Gary Grimes Thursday confirmed the assault took place on Saturday night in the borough, but said he could not comment on a racial motivation. Grimes said no charges have been filed as yet.
