His appearance was a success and from that moment on, his career began to take off. Since that first appearance on David Letterman, Regan has been back 20 times.

In 1997, Regan released his first standup comedy CD, Brian Regan Live. The CD was an instant classic and remains as one of the top ten most popular comedy albums on iTunes.

In 2007, Regan signed a deal with Comedy Central to star in two one hour long standup specials. The two specials Brian Regan Standing Up and The Epitome of Hyperbole were followed by a nonstop tour across the country.

Regan typically talks about mundane “everyday” tasks, such as shipping a package at UPS or visiting the eye doctor. Known to be a relatively “clean” comic, Regan’s comedy resonates across generations.

Count Basie’s free movie mania continues this week with the showing of Tombstone on Friday, April 29 at 7pm and Finding Nemo on Sunday, May 1 at 2pm.

Tombstone, the 1993 classic staring Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell, recounts one of the most famous feuds in the history of the “Old West.”

Russell stars as Wyatt Earp, the retired marshal of Dodge City, and Kilmer brings to life Doc Holliday, the expert gunslinger of the Old West.  The movie takes place in Tombstone, Arizona, a small mining town in the newly explored west.

Earp and Holliday become tasked with the mission of riding the small town of a band of outlaws referred to as the “cowboys,” who have been torturing the residents of the town.

If you are in the mood for something a bit lighter, stop by the Count Basie on Sunday, May 1 at 2pm for a showing of the family friendly hit Finding Nemo.

Finding Nemo, a 2003 animated film made by Pixar. It recounts the story of Nemo, a clownfish who lives under the clutches of his overprotective father, Marlin.

Nemo, tired of being smothered by Marlin, ventures away from the reef despite his father’s warnings. He is captured by a boat and hauled off to spend the rest of his life in a decorative fishbowl in a dentist’s office.

The story then follows the parallel stories of Marlin’s search to find Nemo and Nemo’s own journey and plot to escape from the fishbowl.
