Red Bank Wawa Shutters Due To Employee COVID-19 Case: Report

RED BANK, NJ - Made-to-order hoagies won’t be served for a while at Red Bank’s Bridge Avenue Wawa, according to a report from TAPInto Red Bank.
Per the Nov. 10 report, a sign placed outside of the Red Bank site this week announced that the store closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19.
The closure appeared to be self-imposed, according to the publication, with the Monmouth County Health Department confirming TAPInto Red Bank that “we had nothing to do with the closing.”

A representative from the Monmouth County Health Department could not be reached for comment as of Wednesday morning.
According to the posted notice, the Wawa site “took immediate action” and closed the store to be professionally sanitized.

The store will reopen as “soon as possible” with associates from other stores, the note continues. The site is currently working with the Department of Health to identify close contacts, and the last date the employee worked was Nov. 5.
Nearby Wawa locations include Middletown and Hazlet. An Eatontown location is slated to open in 2021.
“As always, the health and safety of our customers and associates is a top priority,” the notice reads. “We will do everything we can to support our impacted associate and take all necessary steps to monitor, safeguard and protect … associates and customers.”
