Resident Jumps From Burning Red Bank Home: Report
See video of the fire. The man who jumped and four firefighters were injured Thursday afternoon, according to a report.

RED BANK, NJ — Four volunteer firefighters and a resident suffered injuries Thursday as a result of a fire that destroyed a home in Red Bank, according to reports.
The Red Bank Green reported the man, identified as William Sharkey, was injured when he jumped from the second floor to escape the fire in the two-story home at 16 East Leonard Street.
The fire destroyed the home, displacing Sharkey and five others including homeowner Shirley Sharkey, the report said. Shirley Sharkey and the others, as well as the family's pet dog, evacuated safely before firefighters arrived, the report said.

The fire began about 3 p.m. and burned for nearly two hours before firefighters were able to bring it under control, the report said.

The home is not far from the NJ Transit yard, but the fire did not appear to disrupt commuter traffic.
The Red Cross reported it was sending personnel to assist the residents displaced by the fire.
