River Plaza Gives Great Effort in Great Race

River Plaza Elementary School participates in the 25th Annual Great Race.

On Saturday, October 18, the 25th Annual Great Race of Middletown was held at Middletown High School North. The Great Race is a community event that raises funds to benefit the quality of education in Middletown schools through the Parent and Faculty Associations. The school with the highest level of participation is awarded the “Most School Spirit” award.

River Plaza Elementary School had a fantastic turnout at the event. The River Plaza school community consists of 232 families, and leading up to race day had approximately 275 applications received. This is a strong showing and speaks to the dedication of the River Plaza community. Though River Plaza had a solid effort toward retaining the “Most School Spirit” award, this year the prize went to Middletown Village School. Congratulations to all of the families and faculty at Middle Village!

As each race began on Saturday, River Plaza’s presence was seen and heard with cheers and smiles. Present and future students walked and ran along with parents and other family members to show their support and pride for the school. In an outstanding effort, 2nd grader Dylan Passo took 3rd place in the 8-year-old boys’ competitive 2K race, proudly supporting the RP community.
