Riverview Foundation Looks To Philanthropist For Inspiration, Leadership

Nancy Mulheren has been named chief of the fundraising arm of Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

A local woman has been named the new chair of the Riverview Medical Center Foundation, the fundraising body for the Red Bank hospital.

Nancy B. Mulheren, a real estate manager and investor from Rumson, is the new chair. She has served on the board of trustees since 2011, according to a news release from the foundation.

Mulheren spends much of her time on philanthropic causes, including serving as a trustee at Roanoke College in Virginia, her alma mater; and as the director of The J.A.M. Anonymous Foundation, established in tribute to her late husband John. She also serves on the boards of Roanoke College, VNA Foundation, the Count Basie Theatre Foundation, Canterbury School, and as an honorary board member of OASIS (Ongoing Autistic Success in Society).

“I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to positively impact health care in our community through my role as chair of the Riverview Medical Center Foundation Board,” Mulheren said in the news release. “Finding quality care on a local level is increasingly important as our population grows and I’m proud to lead a committed group of individuals dedicated to supporting this outstanding Medical Center and in turn, the countless families it serves.”

Mary Vaden Eisenstadt of the Locust section of Middletown, creator and owner of Virginia Cocktail Peanuts, a national gourmet peanut brand, is joining the board of trustees. Eisenstadt is actively involved in several local charities and had served on the board of the Riverview Medical Center Foundation from 1998 to 2004.

“We are honored that these two terrific individuals have accepted more active roles within the Riverview Medical Center Foundation Board,” said Joseph Stampe, president of the Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations. “These new developments reflect continued success and generosity enabling us to better serve the patients and families of Riverview Medical Center.”

In 2014 the hospital added a robotic surgery center, interventional radiology suite, and a LensX laser system, in addition to other high-tech equipment. This year, it plans to expand and improve its services to cancer patients.

“We are so pleased to have the strong leadership of Nancy and Mary to inspire our community in their continued commitment to Riverview Medical Center,” said Timothy J. Hogan, Meridian Health’s regional hospital president for Monmouth County.
