Jersey Shore Shooting Under Investigation

RED BANK, NJ — Red Bank Police are investigating after a shooting took place on Catherine Street on Monday evening.

At 4:52 p.m. on Monday, the shots-fired incident occurred in the area of 107 Catherine Street, police said.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they learned that the vehicle believed to be involved in the incident had left the area before police arrived.

Several residents were reportedly sitting outside their home at the time of the shooting, though police said no one was injured

An emergency alert sent to borough residents on Monday evening advised of a shooting incident that took place on Catherine Street between Shrewsbury Avenue and Leighton Avenue.

As officers searched the area, police said numerous spent shell casings were recovered from the roadway near the home.

According to a report from RedBankGreen, an unknown gunman fired shots at a person in the home's front yard, striking a car and at least one house.

The Red Bank Police Department, along with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, is actively investigating the incident.

As of Monday afternoon, the investigation indicates that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no known wider danger or ongoing threat to the general public, police said.
