Shrewsbury Woman, 2 Others, Identified As Victims Of Parkway Crash

ABERDEEN, NJ — The identities of three young women in their 20s killed in a horrific Parkway crash in Aberdeen Sunday evening have now been released.

The three young women killed in the crash have been identified as Ajene Brodie, 25, of Shrewsbury, who was driving the car, and passengers Detriona Young, 26, and Janiyah Rudolph, 24, both of Asbury Park, according to New Jersey State Police.

The crash occurred when Brodie's car collided with another car on the Parkway; both cars were headed south in the local lanes and it was a side-swipe collision, said State Police. The impact caused the car driven by Brodie to run off the Parkway and flip over.

The crash occurred at 7:18 p.m. Sunday on the Garden State Parkway southbound near milepost 119.6 in Aberdeen, and it backed up the Parkway for several hours Sunday night.

Many drivers passing by took photos of the wreckage and posted them to social media.

At first, media reported that there were two people killed and a third person seriously injured, but all three young women ultimately died, said State Police.

According to State Police, Brodie was driving a Nissan Sentra southbound in the Parkway local lanes.

In the area of milepost 119.7 in Aberdeen, the car had a same-direction sideswipe collision with a Nissan Maxima also traveling south, said police.

The Sentra ran off the Parkway to the right, hit a metal post, overturned and struck a tree. The driver and two passengers of the Sentra sustained fatal injuries. It is unknown if either driver was trying to change lanes. It is also unknown how fast both cars were going.
