Tower Hill School Hosts Kindergarten Readiness Meeting

Join us on Monday, April 16th at 10 a.m. for a discussion on Kindergarten readiness

Red Bank, NJ, April 12, 2018 – It’s a well-established truth that quality Kindergarten lays the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Unfortunately, since the implementation of Common Core and high stakes testing, many Kindergarten programs have moved away from what’s best developmentally for young children. The rote memorization, daily homework, the ever-longer days in which a five-year-old is asked to sit quietly at a desk. All in the name of higher test scores down the road. But, what if there was another option? What if your child could receive a comprehensive and competitive education without sacrificing the wonder of discovery, curiosity, and imagination? Fortunately, that Kindergarten exists at Tower Hill School.

Features of our program include:

  • Small class size with a student to teacher ratio of no more than 1:8.
  • A full-time, board-certified teacher who connects with children on an individual level, gaining insight into the way each of them learns best. A nurturing and energetic presence, she ignites a love of school and passion for learning.
  • A four-hour school day in which students are provided with direct instruction, small group time, projects and scheduled imaginative play time.
  • An optional extended day enrichment class which meets twice a week for two hours which enhances what the children are learning in Kindergarten, as well as offering added experiences that will strengthen their academic and social success.
  • Specials class which meet weekly and include Library, Gym and It’s Ok To Be Different.
  • A supportive community in which parents have a voice. Knowing what happens in your child’s classroom is important and we understand that education works best when it is collaborative.
  • Developmentally appropriate learning strategies includes phonics-based reading, mathematics, science and social studies.
  • Real-world experiences to put classroom learning into action. Yearly field trips to Huber Woods, Count Basie Theatre, Longstreet Farm, Delicious Orchards and Sandy Hook allow students to further enhance their classroom learning.

Please join us on Monday, April 16th at 10 a.m. for a discussion on Kindergarten readiness to help determine whether your child is ready for public school Kindergarten, or needs another year of maturing physically, cognitively, emotionally and socially in a smaller, more contained and nurturing environment. RSVP to this event by contacting Jen Bruno, Tower Hill School Registrar, at thschoolregistrar@towerhillchurch.org or by calling 732-747-1393.
