2 Adults Fatally Shot In Bergen County In Apparent Domestic Incident: Prosecutors
The prosecutor's office responded to a Hackensack nursing home on Saturday, they said, after two adults in their 70s were fatally shot.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — After a man and woman in their 70s were killed by gunshots Saturday morning at a Hackensack nursing home, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Hackensack Police are investigating, prosecutors said.
"The incident is believed to be domestic, and authorities are not actively looking for any persons of interest," the Prosecutor's Office said Saturday evening.
The Hackensack Police Department responded to a 911 call from Care Point Wellington, a nursing facility on Union Street in Hackensack, on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at approximately 8:51 a.m.

Responding officers found 73-year-old Patricia Zaccario and 76-year-old Michael Zaccario, both of Wood-Ridge, deceased with apparent gunshot wounds, prosecutors said.
Later media reports said it's believed that Patricia was terminally ill, and that Michael killed her, then turned the gun on. himself.

CBS posted a statement from the nursing home: "We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that took place at our Wellington building today. Our hearts go out to the victim's family and loved ones."
An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Captain Michael Antista, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors did not release further information about whether one or both of the individuals were living at the nursing home.
