2 Bergen Eateries Featured On List Of Top 30 NJ Restaurants

The restaurants were named in New Jersey Monthly's August issue of the best restaurants in New Jersey.

Two Bergen County restaurants have been named to New Jersey Monthly's annual list of 30 best restaurants in New Jersey.

Cafe Panache in Ramsey and the Saddle River Inn were included on the list.

Cafe Panache chef and owner Kevin Kohler uses local, organic ingredients for his dishes. His dedication to quality may have earned him "the most loyal following of any Jersey chef," the magazine said of him.

"All I do when I wake up to when I go to bed is pay attention to the quality," Kohler told New Jersey Monthly.

The menu changes frequently. This summer there is a halibut with lime zest-lemongrass sauce with bok choy and a coconut-fig bread pudding. Lunch ranges from $6 to $22. Dinner runs as high as $40.

Saddle River Inn's owner and chef Jamie Knott’s food "is among the most elegant around," New Jersey Monthly wrote about the restaurant.

"It shows world peace is possible, at least on a plate. For rack of lamb, he assembles a global supporting cast of cumin-accented hummus, texturally vibrant ratatouille and piquant salsa verde," New Jersey Monthly stated. "It shows world peace is possible, at least on a plate. Pastry chef Leticia Meneses pulls off a feat of her own: A peanut butter, banana and chocolate dessert for adults."
