Victims Identified In Bergen County Double Fatal Shooting: Prosecutor
Two men were fatally shot near the Bergen County/Hudson County border on Sunday night.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — The two victims in a fatal shooting in North Arlington on Sunday have been identified by officials.
Brian Dominick Lockett, 28, of North Arlington and Ezequiel Aquino, 29, of Newark, were found with gunshot wounds on Sunday night and pronounced dead at the University Hospital in Newark, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Police were dispatched to the corner of Ridge Road and Belleville Turnpike, near the border with Kearny, shortly after 8:30 p.m., according to officials.

"Preliminary investigation has so far revealed that the shooting took place near the intersection during an altercation between two small groups of people," Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer said.
Prosecutors clarified on Monday afternoon that the dispute was not related to a nearby bar or any other business in the area, as some news outlets reported.

"Preliminary investigation has so far revealed that the shooting took place near the intersection and was not directly related to any of the commercial establishments in that area," prosecutors said.
"In addition, detectives have determined that the incident was isolated. It involved an altercation between two small groups of people with no wider threat or ongoing danger to the community."
ABC News quoted a family member of the two men as saying the matter involved d0mestic violence at a custody exchange.

A GoFundMe for Lockett identified the men as cousins.
No other details are being released at this time, the Prosecutor's Office said Monday afternoon.
