BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two people who were removed from a basement during a fire at a Teaneck home early Monday morning have died, prosecutors said.

Ranjodh Singh IV, 35, and an unidentified woman have died due to injuries sustained in the early-morning fire at 850 Palisade Ave., the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said Thursday.

On Monday, Feb. 19, around 12:30 a.m., the Teaneck police and other first responders headed to the five-bedroom home and rescued "multiple" people whom they said were trapped in a basement.

Prosecutors said that responders also rescued Manjit Kaur, 47, who is hospitalized at Cooper Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

Prosecutors said that all three people who were rescued were taken first to Hackensack University Medical Center. Kaur and the unidentified woman were then transferred to Barnabas, where the latter died on Tuesday.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Task Force, Major Crimes Unit, and Teaneck Police Department investigated and determined that the cause and origin of the fire are "suspicious," prosecutors said.

They said no more information will be released for now, and the investigation is continuing.

On-line records show the house is a five-bedroom home.
