3-Week Fraud Investigation Ends With Tennessee Man's Arrest: Cops

Thierno Diallo, 29, allegedly used a Glen Rock resident's credit card to make purchases throughout North Jersey.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A Tennessee man was charged with identity theft, forgery and fraudulent use of credit cards following a three-week investigation by a Glen Rock police detective.

Thierno Diallo, 29, of Memphis, Tennessee was arrested after Detective Mike Trover investigated a credit fraud report a borough resident made, said Chief Dean Ackermann.

Diallo allegedly obtained the resident's credit card information and used it to make purchases in Woodland Park, Hawthorne, Midland Park, Clifton and North Haledon, Ackermann said.

Trover spoke with merchants, looked at video surveillance footage, examined Port Authority bridge crossing records and automated license plate readers used by several law enforcement agencies during the investigation, the chief said.

Trover used the information to trace Diallo's vehicle to his Union, Tennessee home, Ackermann said.

Diallo was processed at Glen Rock Police Headquarters and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
