7 Ridgewood High Students Receive Arts And Writing Award
The Ridgewood High School students received Montclair Art Museum Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for 2021.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Seven Ridgewood High School students are 2021 recipients of the Montclair Art Museum Scholastsic Art and Writing Awards, the district announced.
Fourteen pieces of art were recognized, earning three Gold Key awards, four Silver Key awards, and seven Honorable Mentions. Gold Key entries are automatically considered for national awards.
"We are pleased to have so many outstanding artists from Ridgewood High School represented among this year's award recipients," said art teacher Athena Maxwell.

"Now more than ever, art continues to be a crucial outlet and platform for students to express not only their talents, but their unique perspectives, messages, and feelings as well. How great to see these student works created and exhibited despite all the obstacles of the past year."
The virtual 2021 Scholastic Art Awards Ceremony for the northern New Jersey region will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25, and the winners will have a virtual exhibition on the Montclair Art Museum website.

A panel of judges consisting of professional artists, curators, and arts educators examined 3,106 works of art submitted by 1,180 student artists across northern New Jersey.
Recipients of the Scholastic Art & Writing Award join a long list of winners including some of America’s most celebrated artists like Andy Warhol, Zac Posen and Tschabalala Self.
The winners are:

- Lulu Xu
- Vivian Yuan
