94-Year-Old Bergen County Man Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run
A 94-year-old man has been charged in a hit-and-run Thursday that killed a Bergen County woman.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 94-year-old Bergen County man has been charged in a hit-and-run on Thursday that left a pedestrian dead.
Ernest F. Hofmann, 94, of Bergenfield, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and other charges, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.
Prosecutors said that on Thursday, March 14, around 5:19 p.m., the Dumont Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian, that occurred at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Madison Avenue in Dumont.

The pedestrian, 54-year-old Dumont resident Elizabeth Feliciano-Rosa, was taken to Hackensack University Hospital and later died as a result of her injuries, prosecutors said.
An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Dumont Police Department determined that a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck operated by Hofmann struck the victim as she crossed Madison Avenue, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors say that Hofmann fled the area prior to police arrival.
He was charged with second-degree knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, and fourth-degree obstructing the administration of law. He was also issued several motor vehicle summonses.
Hofmann was taken to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said
