BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Hackensack man was arrested last week for sexually assaulting a teen girl, according to prosecutors and court documents.
Christopher Rodriguez-Perez, 23, of Hackensack, was charged on April 10 with second-degree sexual assault, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors said that on April 6, the Hackensack Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault.
An investigation that involved local prosecutors, police, and the New York City Police Department determined that Rodriguez-Perez had sexually assaulted the girl in a Hackensack home earlier that day, officials said.
According to a police complaint, the victim was between the ages of 13 and 16.
The suspect was charged specifically with sexual assault in which the defendant is at least four years older than the victim, statute NJSA 2C:14-2c(4), according to the complaint.
The complaint said the suspect made an admission in the case, but did not elaborate. Patch has reached out for more information, and will update the story if it's received.
Rodriguez-Perez made a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court on April 11, prosecutors said. He was then released to await further court action, prosecutors said.
