BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — New Jersey is known for its malls, but not every mall gets named to a national "best of" list.
The American Dream retail/entertainment complex in East Rutherford — which has dozens of shops, attractions, and restaurants — was named to a USA Today top-2o list this month. Fans can vote for their favorite mall once each day until Monday at noon.
"We’re honored to be named a finalist for Best Mall," said American Dream spokesman Gregg Schwartz, "even though American Dream is so much more than a mall."
He added, "From one-of-a-kind events and immersive attractions to world-class shopping and dining, we continue to redefine the traditional mall experience. And soon, the world will see it firsthand as American Dream takes center stage during the World Cup with Dream Fan Fest, 39 days of nonstop programming, celebrations, viewing experiences, and unforgettable moments."
American Dream was the only mall from New Jersey to make the list. Two malls in New York City — Brookfield Place and Hudson Yards — also appear.
The massive Mall of America in Minneapolis is also a contender, as are malls in Texas, California, Florida, and Indiana.
American Dream, located on Route 3, is known for attractions such as Nickelodeon Universe, Big Snow (a ski attraction), and DreamWorks Water Park. More information is here.
Readers can vote once per day for the nominees at https://10best.usatoday.com/awards/best-mall/ until voting ends Monday at 11:59 a.m.
The top 10 will be announced at noon on June 10.
