Bergen County High School Teacher Arrested For Secretly Filming Women's Buttocks: Cops

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A high school English teacher in Bergen County was arrested Thursday for harassing women, police said.

Michael A. Conner, 43, a teacher at Northern Valley Regional High School in Old Tappan, was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment, said Woodcliff Lake Police Chief Stephen Regula.

Regula said that on July 9, police were told that a suspicious person was following a woman near her job.

The suspect was described as a "white male in his 40s, wearing shorts, a pink shirt and a hat."

Police were called back to the area several times the same day, with witnesses saying the person followed "multiple" women, the chief said.

Detectives determined that the man was "targeting different women in the parking lot and running up behind them, with what looked like his cell phone held near his hip while filming the women’s buttocks as they walked."

After a week-long investigation, police arrested Conner on Thursday on charges of disorderly conduct and harassment/alarming conduct.

He was released to await a first appearance in Pascack Joint Municipal Court, police said.

The Northern Valley Regional School District serves seven suburban towns: Closter, Demarest, Harrington Park, Haworth, Northvale, Norwood, and Old Tappan.

Northern Valley Superintendent of Schools James Santana said he had no comment at this time.
