Longtime Teacher In Glen Rock Dies

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A longtime teacher in Glen Rock died last week at 82.

Maureen Hopkins and her husband raised their family in Glen Rock, where she also taught for 25 years, her obituary says. For 18 of those years, she taught sixth grade at St. Catharine's (now our Academy of Our Lady).

"She inspired generations of young students with patience, encouragement and genuine care," her obituary notes. "Years later, nothing brightened-up her day like a former student approaching her and telling her stories about how she was one of their favorite teachers." Read her obituary here.
