Man Threatened Teen On Train Through Bergen County, NJ Transit Says

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Franklin Borough man was arrested for allegedly threatening a child while on a NJ Transit train last weekend, the agency said.

At approximately 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, according to an NJ Transit spokesman, the crew of Bergen County Line train 1880 — which departed Waldwick at 8:34 p.m. — reported a fight between two passengers.

The train was scheduled to arrive at Hoboken Terminal at 9:28 p.m., NJ Transit said.

One of the passengers allegedly threatened the other while they were at Rutherford Station, said the transit spokesperson.

The train was held up at the station and police responded.

Police investigated and determined that one passenger was threatening a juvenile passenger, said NJ Transit.

Police arrested and charged Brandon Wagner, 37, of Franklin Borough with one count of theft of service and one count of making terroristic threats, NJ Transit said.

A spokesperson confirmed that Wagner was also charged with possession of a dangerous substance. The substance was a vial of suspected crack cocaine, the spokesperson said.
