HACKENSACK, NJ — After a Hackensack man was arrested on drug charges last week, police had to remove four dogs from his home, officials said.
Ramarr Pannell-Bishop, 38, was charged for drug distribution last Monday, said the Hackensack police.
Police said that officers went to Pannell-Bishop's Second Street home after citizen complaints triggered an investigation the Crime Suppression Bureau.
In the apartment — which police said was across the street from Carver Park and near Public Housing — police found oxycodone, ecstasy, Xanax, Promethazine, Adderall, marijuana "packaged for street-level sales," a digital scale, and other drug distribution paraphernalia.
Four dogs were found in cages with no food or water, police said. Bergen County Animal Control took custody of them.
Pannell-Bishop was charged with distribution of prescription legend drugs, distribution of narcotics within 500 feet of public housing, distribution near a school zone, distribution of scheduled narcotics, receiving stolen property for prescription medications in others' names, marijuana distribution, and distribution of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with animal cruelty.
He was taken to the Bergen County Correctional and Rehabilitation Center to await an appearance at Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
