RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Dr. Holly Zack, who was born in Ridgewood, wasn't just a doctor — she was someone who pursued various passions late in life and quickly became a leader when she joined organizations to help others.
Zack died in Maine on Aug. 31 at age 68 after being diagnosed with terminal cancer in April, her obituary says.
Zack enjoyed a career in accounting for many years, but eventually went back to school to study medicine, working in a veterans' medical center and then becoming a psychologist, her obituary notes. She retired, filed a volunteer application with the local Humane Society, and within a year was named president of the Board of Drectors.
"Holly didn't not work to live; she lived to work," the obit notes. "She made more than a career out of her callings; she made a difference." Services will be this Wednesday. Her obituary is here.
