Biden Advisor And Author From Bergen County Dies

He was a professor at a NJ college, an author, and an advisor to Joseph Biden. The longtime Bergen County resident died Friday.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A local professor, author, and informal adviser to then-Sen. Joseph Biden died in Bergen County on Friday, according to his obituary. Dr. Faramarz Fatemi was 91.

Fatemi was born in Iran, graduated from Teaneck High School lived in Ho-Ho-Kus for 60 years, and earned degrees from Columbia University and the New School. He was a professor at Farleigh Dickinson for more than 50 years, his obituary says, "known on campus for his eloquence, depth of knowledge on Middle Eastern affairs, and his sense of humor." When Biden was the head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Fatemi was an "informal advisor" on Middle East affairs.

Fatemi also wrote three books, was a passionate fan of American sports, and even served as a dance teacher at one time, his obituary said. Read more of his obituary here.
