ENGLEWOOD, NJ — A Bergen County man was arrested late last month for stabbing another man in front of two children, prosecutors said this week.
Ahmed S. Mohamed, 60, of Englewood, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 27, prosecutors say, the Englewood Police Department responded to a stabbing at a multi-dwelling apartment building on Grand Avenue in Englewood.
They found a man with cuts to his upper abdomen and arm, prosecutors say.
Police found Mohamed with a cut on his head and a broken nose.
He and the victim were taken to hospitals for treatment.
Mohamed was treated and released that night, while the victim received serious injuries and was released on Oct. 1, prosecutors say.
Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Robbery-Homicide Division investigated, along with police.
Detectives determined that the pair were involved in a dispute that escalated into a physical altercation.
Mohamed brandished a knife and struck the victim's abdomen and arm.
"It was also discovered that two juveniles were present in the residence at the time of the incident," prosecutors noted.
Mohamed was taken to the Bergen County Jail, made an appearance, and was released Tuesday to await his next appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors say.
