RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A NJ Transit bus careened toward a train station in Bergen County on Friday and slammed into a guard rail just above the tracks, officials confirmed.
Just after 3:30 p.m. Friday, the out-of-service bus was heading down Glenwood Road in Ridgewood near the tracks, said NJ Transit spokesman Kyalo Mulumba.
The bus, which was on its way to Rochelle Park to start its route, "made contact with a guardrail on a narrow portion of Glenwood Road," Mulumba said.
Mulumba said no passengers were on board and there were no injuries.
Train service on the Main-Bergen County Line and Port Jervis Line was temporarily halted, but was back on or close to schedule by Monday morning, Mulumba said.
Local police are leading the investigation, he said.
