RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A homeowner was summonsed in Ridgewood on Saturday after a party "grew out of hand," police said.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., according to Police Captain Glenn Ender, police were dispatched to the 600 block of Walthery Avenue in response to a report of a loud party.
Police spotted a large group of mainly teens in front of the home. More than 100 people were there, police confirmed.
"As officers approached, members of the group ran toward the rear yard in an apparent attempt to flee," Ender said.
A rear fence was damaged as people tried to leave.
The homeowner was issued a summons for violating the Village of Ridgewood's noise ordinance, he said.
"The gathering reportedly began as a planned party but grew out of hand after the location was shared on social media," Ender said, "attracting a larger crowd than anticipated."
He confirmed that the group was mainly teens, and said one teen was turned over to her parents because she was under the influence of alcohol.
'Repeat Performance'
A gathering of teens also grew out of control the previous weekend, according to posts and photos by local photographer Boyd Loving.
