BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — It's the ninth largest lottery jackpot ever won, and it was sold at a store in Bergen County.
The NJ Lottery announced Thursday afternoon that someone who bought a Powerball ticket in a store in Montvale won the $847 million Jackpot on Wednesday night.
The winning numbers were 15, 34, 41, 53, and 56. The Power Ball was 21, and the multiplier was 2X.
The agency had released the numbers earlier on Thursday, as reported by Patch, but did not say where the ticket was sold.
New Jersey Lottery sold the only jackpot-winning ticket for the national drawing.
Sold At Supermarket
The ticket was sold at Wegmans Food Market, 100 Farm View, in Montville.
The store will receive a $30,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The lucky winner will choose between an annual award adding up to $847 million or a lump-sum payment of $363.1 million — both before taxes.
If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive the prize in 30 increasing payments over 29 years.
"Congratulations to our newest New Jersey winner. A prize of $847 million is the second largest in the history of the New Jersey Lottery, and it was won right here in Montvale," said Gov. Mikie Sherrill. "Beyond this life-changing moment for one lucky player, every ticket sold in New Jersey helps support the public employee pension system and the people who serve our state."
The lucky winner should sign the ticket immediately, make copies, and store it in a safe place prior to claiming their prize, said officials.
New Jersey's largest prize ever was a $1.13B Mega Millions prize in March 2024. The largest Powerball ticket in New Jersey before that was $429.6M in May 2016.
