RIDGEWOOD, NJ — On April 30, the Bergen Community College Student Government provided 200 dinners to healthcare workers at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, according to a news release from the college.

In April, the SGA voted to pledge $3,200 in funds accumulated for philanthropic efforts toward purchasing meals for font-line healthcare workers at the hospital. As the group's annual "Bergen Gift", the money was used to purchase the dinners from Tito's Burritos and Wings, also located in Ridgewood.

“Our hearts go out to those dealing with the virus directly, and it only made sense that we focused using our annual ‘Bergen gift’ toward helping those who are combating COVID-19,” said SGA President Bernadette Duran, in a statement. “I am proud of the SGA and the advisers for coming together to make this happen.”

SGA Vice President Helen Witte said the donation was an example of what the SGA can achieve, even when they aren't together on campus.

“This shows that even though members of the student body are apart, we are still continuing to have a large impact on our local community,” said Witte.
