This Bergen County Spa Has An 800-Degree Sauna

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — People are willing to go to great lengths to keep themselves healthy.

One way they do that is to sit in a sauna, but some people sit in an 800-degree sauna.

That's the temperature of one of the nine saunas at King Spa in Palisades Park.

Here are just some of the services the 24-hour spa offers.

The Bulgama Room

The room is heated to 800 degrees with a specially-made pulse rock. It reportedly accelerates the body's metabolism and is good for muscle and back aches.

The room follows the Bulgama Therapy technique and accelerates blood circulation, widens the pores and increases one's metabolism, according to the spa's website.

Gold Pyramid

This pyramid is built from "genuine" 23-karat gold leaves. The spa says the room "activates human bio-energy" and "has an anti-aging effect on the skin." The room also "has a great effect" on preventing certain diseases and the aging process, the spa says.

Gul Room

Oak wood is burned to create this room's 400-degree temperature and the floor is composed of yellow soil and salt to help with detoxification. Users must cover themselves with a special cloth.

Cheongito Sauna

This room uses special volcano rock to help customers "revitalize their stamina and helps to prevent aging."

The spa also has a cold sauna, mineral salt sauna, yellow ocher sauna, a juice bar and other amenities. The spa is open 24 hours a day and offers free shuttle service from New York City.

The spa offers dry massages for $65 or $85 (plus tax and a $30 tip) and foot massages for $35 or $65 for either a 60- or 90-minute session.
