Bergen County Teen Charged With Sexually Assaulting 6-Year-Old Girl: Authorities

17-year-old boy allegedly engaged in forced sexual activity with a girl at a summer program at Lyncrest Elementary School, prosecutor says.

A Fair Lawn teenager has been accused of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl at a summer enrichment program at Lyncrest Elementary School, authorities said.

On Monday, the Fair Lawn Police Department reported to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit that a 17-year-old male juvenile “forcible engaged in inappropriate sexual activity” on numerous occasions with a 6-year-old female, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

An investigation revealed that the alleged incidents occurred at the English Language Learner Summer Enrichment Program at Lyncrest Elementary School in Fair Lawn, Molinelli said. The 17-year-old was a volunteer counselor at the school and the alleged victim was a student.

The 17-year-old was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault by sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and appeared before Superior Court Judge Gary N. Wilcox Tuesday, Molinelli said.
