Patch: How long have you been doing business in town, or how long has your organization been around in the community?
Dempsey: Blue Foundry Bank (formerly known as Boiling Springs Savings Bank) has deep roots in the Glen Rock community dating back to 2002 when it opened its doors for business. The bank recently celebrated the grand reopening of its reimagined Glen Rock branch, located at 217 Rock Road, on June 24, 2021.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?
Dempsey: I enjoy interacting with people as well as helping them explore solutions to meet their financial goals. My first position in retail banking as a customer service representative afforded me the opportunity to strengthen my skills in both of these areas and ultimately led me to build a career in banking, where I make good things happen for my customers and communities.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Dempsey: Dedicated, approachable, detail-oriented, responsive, passionate
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Dempsey: Immersing myself in a new community and preparing the branch for its grand reopening has been a rewarding challenge. I became the Glen Rock branch manager in April 2021, just two months prior to sharing the bank’s new look and feel with the local community. The outstanding support of the Blue Foundry Bank team, fellow Glen Rock businesses and members of the community has made this a successful and exceptional experience.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Dempsey: Building long-term relationships with customers and helping them find the products that will help them meet their financial goals.
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Dempsey: We’re more than just a bank, and we serve as a hub for strengthening the community, which is why it’s at the heart of everything we do. Blue Foundry Bank is invested in making a difference in the lives of our customers here in the community, not just through our banking services, but through our philanthropic commitments including our work with organizations like the Family Promise of Bergen County and Friends of the Glen Rock Public Library, two nonprofits we partnered with as a part of our Glen Rock Grand Reopening. We’re a different kind of banking experience, and to showcase this we’ve rolled out our “Blue is Here for You” service delivered by dedicated, knowledgeable Universal Bankers. From everyday banking needs to longer-term financial goals, clients will receive the individual support they need to get the most out of their Blue Foundry banking relationship.
Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Dempsey: Listen more than you speak which is an important skill when you are being entrusted to help individuals, businesses, and the community experience financial success.
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about? If so, what details can you share and what makes it so exciting?
Dempsey: I am excited to work with my team to build new personal and business relationships in the Glen Rock community as well as offer a reimagined banking experience for all. Our newly designed branch provides an open space where you can conduct all aspects of your business in one area while collaborating with our team.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community? If so, tell us about them.
Dempsey: As a part of our Grand Opening celebration, we offered a daily drawing for gift cards to local retailers and restaurants, supporting our efforts to strengthen the community and its business district. Our branch also collaborated with Blue Foundry Bank’s Ridgewood branch, located at 235 E. Ridgewood Ave. to host a “school supplies drive” for Family Promise of Bergen County, so that their student clients could start the year off on the right foot. We look forward to being involved in many future community events and activities.
