RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A new butterfly and sensory garden opened recently next to the Stable.

The garden contains shrubs and perennials designed to attracts pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. There is a walkway that leads visitors to a fountain and a pergola that offers shade for attendees.

"Great thought has been given to choosing plants that will appeal to the senses," said Cynthia Halaby, president of the Conservancy for Ridgewood Public Lands, which oversaw the project.

The plants have various scents and textures to stimulate attendees' senses.

"It is our goal to provide our residents with a beautiful garden, which in turn will teach our children the joys of being outdoors and the joys of gardening," Halaby said.
