Parlance Chamber Concerts’s 18th season celebrates the art of singing — the most universal form of musical expression, and the wellspring from which all music flows. The members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra spend their careers listening to and collaborating with the world’s greatest singers. As a result, a vocal sensibility—lyrical, expressive, and flexible—deeply shapes their approach to phrasing and musical line.
On Sunday, September 14 at 4 PM, PCC’s Opening Concert will showcase three of the Met’s principal instrumental “singers”—hornist Brad Gemeinhardt, bassoonist William Short, and clarinetist Anton Rist—performing three of Mozart’s greatest wind concertos with colleagues from the Met Orchestra, under the direction of Artistic Director Michael Parloff.
Rounding out the program is Haydn’s sparkling Symphony No. 6, “The Morning”, a radiant work that highlights the extraordinary virtuosity of twenty members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
Celebrate the dawn of a thrilling new season with an afternoon of glorious music-making!
