Celebrated Doctor And Professor From Ridgewood Dies

A doctor and kidney researcher from Ridgewood died last week.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A celebrated doctor, university professor, and kidney researcher from Ridgewood died on June 11 at the age of 80, according to his obituary.

Dr. James Paul Calvet was living in Lawrence, Kan. when he died of natural causes. He was a professor emeritus of the University of Kansas, a founder of the Jared Grantham Kidney Institute, and a director of the Kansas Polycystic Kidney Disease Research and Translation Core Center.

"Jim grew up in Ridgewood, N.J., and always spoke fondly about his life with his family and extended family of cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents – a beautiful, rich life that he enjoyed remembering," his obit notes.
